Scott Mulder-President
Scott has been with Groot Builders since 1993. He began working with Bob Groot when he was in high school and in January of 2019 took over the building operations of the company. He is married to Krista and they have two children, Eli and Lily. Scott enjoys hunting, fishing, making maple syrup and running, especially in the Riverbank Run. Working for Groot and now owning the company has allowed him the opportunity to make customers’ dreams a reality and to create long term relationships with his subcontractors.
Derek DeWeerd-Construction Manager
Derek, a graduate of Calvin University, began working for Groot Builders in 2008. He currently works as the Construction Manager. Derek is married and has three children, two girls and a boy. He enjoys watching his kids play sports, camping and going to concerts with his wife. He loves the variety of work he is able to do with Groot, enjoys working with customers and appreciates the challenge of building.
Merrie Mulder-Office Manager
Merrie began working with Groot Builders in 1989. She is married to Doug and they have three sons and nine grandchildren. She enjoys making cards, watching her grandchildren play various sports and playing the piano. As Office Manager, she loves the variety of tasks she is able to do and the opportunity to work for her son, Scott. She appreciates the great reputation of the company which is known for honesty, hard work and quality projects. She is grateful for the great customers and subcontractors she is able to work with each day.
